Great steamer
I love this steamer. I got it to replace a two-tiered steamer I'd gotten over ten years ago. It heats up quickly and steams evenly, even though the baskets are large. I love the timer - no more winding and turning - and it's easily cleaned. The baskets nest so that they only take up the room of one basket while it's in the cabinet. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this product. I'd purchase it again, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good steamer.
Should have bought a Black & Decker
We had a Black & Decker single basket steamer w/rice basket and flavor basket, and used it 2-3 times a week for years. It started leaking from the bottom so I decided to buy a new one, saw this one and thought "wow - what a great price and it can steam a lot of things at once". Well, I haven't tried steaming a number of things at once yet, but so far I am not impressed. The rice bowl is too small, and the directions for steaming rice are WRONG. If you put in 3/4 cup of rice and 2 cups of water you are going to get rice soup - gross. Stick with 1-1/4 cups of water to 1 cup of rice.
The unit itself feels cheap. The baskets don't fit well on top of the unit when you stack them for storage. I don't think the cover fits well on the baskets I have used when steaming. The turbo feature - you had better be paying attention when you plug this in, because it will automatically start steaming in seconds. I think it goes through more water than my Black & Decker did too - my...
Great steamer!
My husband and I love this steamer. I originally bought it because it has 3 baskets (which is hard to find at a decent price) to prepare vegetables for baby food. My daughter's still a little young for that, but this item has gotten a ton of use already! It's great because you can put 2 entire meals in it at once. We do chicken on the bottom, and veggies in the other 2 trays (all ingredients, even chicken, are frozen). Great meal that's done in 25 minutes while you go work on something else.
The directions are a little difficult to follow the first time, but once you use it it's super easy to set up. I love that the trays are numbered so I don't forget which one to use.
