Great basic cooker in a nice shape and size
I searched high and low through tons of reviews and manufacturers' sites to find this one. First and foremost, I gave precedence to the Hamilton Beach/Proctor Silex brand for the manufacturer's claims to zero heavy metals in the crockery. Also, there have been so many issues cited with poor quality and short life span on the glass, gaskets, electronics and overall manufacturing integrity of small appliances lately that I am hoping that foregoing as many of the bells and whistles as possible will make for a long, simple, unobstrusive life on this thing. This arrived quickly and apparently intact. My husband, mother and I have all tried it out and so far found the settings and temp controls so intuitive and reliable that it's grand appearance on the countertop has quickly faded into the mundane workings of every day life. Nice size!
In looking to downsize in the kitchen, I was looking for a smaller crock pot since I only cook for 2 most days. And this fit the bill to a T! It's just big enough to put a whole chicken in or a roast in if the kids come over or to make a one pot meal for the hubby and me. And the smaller size works good for storage and ease of cleanup. The lid fits perfectly and the first time I used it I knew I had what I was looking for.....it worked great!
