Presto 85374 pressure cooker and canner gauge.

No Nut Needed
These pressure gauges do not require a nut to hold them in place although Presto supplies one with the gauge. They can be screwed into the rubber grommet in the lid of the pressure cooker. Screw it in carefully and do NOT try to tighten (this will wear the rubber grommet and limit its useful life). Stop when the gauge is flush with the rubber grommet. Make sure no steam escapes around the gauge stem when the unit is cooking. If steam escapes around the gauge stem, it isn't screwed in correctly. If you want to use the nut (a good idea), use a flat washer with the nut to secure the gauge against the grommet. The overpressure plug in the lid should take care of severe overpressure conditions.

Metric 10.x 1.0 needed
Goodman's shipped me this gauge. I received it in about a week. It came with a rubber seal that fits the pressure cooker's lid, but no nut to secure it during the pressure cycle. I have a feeling they'd tell me I didn't need one, so I experimented with it. After that experiment, I decided it was not wise to trust this gauge's security without that nut. It needs a metric 10 x 1 nut, which can be hard to find. We looked all over for a week. None of your local home improvement stores will have it! We had to travel over 20 miles (one way) and finally found the nut for $0.32. Why couldn't Goodman's ship that stupid nut with it and save me so much trouble? I thought that was quite inconsiderate. So, if you order this, ask them if they have that metric 10x1 nut.

Excelent replacement gage
It was very easy to remove the old gauge and install the new one.The new new gauge works very well.
